Details: Manly-Manado's involvement at this event will focus on the Sumompo Rubbish Dump Resource Centre: see Development Projects for more information.

We will be display photos and sharing stories of how lives have been transformed in Manado through the newly established Education Resource Centre. The centre was built at the Sumompo Rubbish Dump following the $10,000 Christian Surfers raised for Bridge of Hope through their Paddle Against Poverty in 2008.

There will also be the opportunity to purchase products from Manado supporting Bridge of Hope and promotional products (t-shirts, stickers, bags) to raise awareness in Manly. Come along and share this experience with others from Manly. Connect with surfers entered in the competition and spectators enjoying a weekend at Manly Beach.

Manly-Manado's involvement at this event will focus on the Sumompo Rubbish Dump Resource Centre: see Development Projects for more information.  We will be running a number of simulation activities to allow people in Manly to experience a taste of what life is like living and working at the Sumompo Rubbish Dump:
  • Daily Income: experience what it is like to earn a living by collecting plastic and paper from a simulated rubbish dump (like Sumompo)
  • Daily Water & Hygiene: experience what it is like to collect and carry your daily water and wash yourself in the traditional Indonesian style
  • Daily Nutrition: experience and taste a traditional Indonesian meal
