Students and teachers within Manly schools can take action by one of 3 great ways. We hope you will be part of making a difference together!

Educate

You can educate your school, class or group of friends on poverty and global inequalities. Inspire them to find out more about Manly-Manado and how to get involved.

Primary school teachers can use the following programs for Human Society and its Environment:

HSIE Stage 1 Program 'Workers in the Community'
Designed to give primary students in the Manly community an insight into how community-based volunteer organisations can work to empower and meet the physical needs of those trapped in poverty.

HSIE Stage 3 Unit of Work 'Manly-Manado'
Designed to give primary students in the Manly community a global perspective on the inequalities that exist in our world and to provide them with tangible evidence of how community based organisations can have a significant impact on helping to reduce these inequalities.

Secondary school teachers
can use the following program for Geography:

HSIE Stage 4 Geography Case Study
This case study on Manly-Manado’s Community Partnership includes a series of lesson activities. It has been designed to give students a global perspective on the inequalities that exist in our world and provide them with tangible evidence of how community-based organisations can have a significant impact on helping to reduce these inequalities.

Participate

Since this partnership started in 2005 many people in Manly, along with friends, families and local businesses, have initiated community events or activities.

Since May 2010 Manly-Manado has ceased its incorporated status and as such cannot provide a fundraising authority for you to publicly fundraise under the Manly-Manado name. However you can raise funds publicly through Everyday Hero for Compassion or Bridge of Hope (via CNEC) or through contacting each organisation directly.

Why not do something that you have always dreamt of doing, using your passions and talents, to raise awareness and resources to help those trapped in poverty?

Browse through the Past Events and Action Updates for some great ideas of what others have done.

Advocate

Each of us can help change the lives of those living in poverty by advocating on their behalf to our friends, our family, our community and our government.

Please join one of the many advocacy movements, stay engaged with the issues and take your action against poverty to a global level. Examples includes Make Poverty History, The Micah Challenge or Compassion's Child Advocate Network.

Why not challenge the Australian Federal Government to meet the Millennium Development Goals of halving extreme poverty by 2015?
